Chimney Rock in Capitol Reef National Park

We visited Capitol Reef National Park in south central Utah in August 2010. We planned to spend a full day doing some hikes but many trails were closed due to high water levels. This is one park I haven’t spent much time at but I would definitely love to check it out in more detail – hopefully in a 4 wheel drive vehicle!

For a small town with a population of less than 500, Springdale Utah has lots to offer. The town slogan is “the Gateway to Zion” and it is, considering the park entrance is less than 2miles! Springdale is a great spot to go for lunch or dinner outside the park, however I would suggest spending at least a day in the town itself. There is an active art community and a calendar full of events all year long. If you have never been to Zion National Park, now you have got one more reason to add it to your “to do” list!
